ALS & BLS Interfacility Transfers

ALS & BLS Interfacility Transfers
Our ambulances also provide Non Emergency ALS & BLS inter facility patient transfers for specialized care so that in-patients at one hospital can share in the specialties of another. Our units also provide discharge transport to a rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility after treatment for a cardiac event or a major surgery, An ALS unit would consist of a Paramedic and an EMT while a BLS unit would have 2 EMT's or an EMT and EMR. Not all interfacility transfers are covered by your insurance. Prior to be transported ask the sending facility if they have obtained prior authorization from your insurance for this transport. If no, understand that you may be responsible for the cost of this transport. Most insurances do not pay for patient preference, bypassing a closer facility, or for the transportation to a different facility when the services could have been provided at the sending facility.
